Mentions, formatting and attachments

How the editor works everywhere in Waypoint: @mentions, formatting and attaching files.

The same editor appears everywhere you write in Waypoint: messages and replies, card descriptions, chat, documents, comments and event descriptions. Learn it once and it works the same in every tool.

Formatting

Use the toolbar above the editor, or the usual keyboard shortcuts, for headings, bold and italic text, bulleted and numbered lists, links, quotes and code. Press Enter for a new paragraph. In chat, Enter sends the message instead; use Shift + Enter for a new line there.

@mentions

Type @ followed by the start of a name and pick the person from the list. Only people who can see the project can be mentioned. A mention:

  • shows as a highlighted chip in the text,
  • sends that person a notification that links straight to what you wrote,
  • works in every tool: messages, replies, cards, chat, documents, comments and events.

Mentioning someone does not give them access to a project they cannot already see. If a person is missing from the list, assign them to the project first.

Attachments

You can attach files to message replies, chat messages, drive comments and calendar events. Choose the paperclip, pick one or more files, and they are listed under the editor until you post. Remove one with the cross beside it if you change your mind.

Uploads into a drive work the same way and have the same per-file limit. Everything uploaded anywhere on a team counts towards that team's storage, and you can see the total on the team's settings page.

What is kept

Waypoint stores your text as formatted content and cleans it before saving, so pasted content from other apps keeps its headings, lists and links but not stray styling or scripts.
