Projects
Titles, dates and status, avatars, settings and deleting a project.
A project holds one piece of work and the tools used to do it. This article covers the project itself: its title, dates and status, its avatar and settings, and what happens when you delete one. The tools each have their own article in this category.
Creating a project
Choose Create project on the dashboard, enter a title and confirm. Anyone on a team can create projects on it, and whoever creates a project is assigned to it automatically so they can see it straight away, whatever their role.
Dates and status
Open Project settings (the cog in the header) to set a start date, an end date, or both. Waypoint works out the status from them and shows it under the title and on the dashboard card:
| Status | When |
|---|---|
| Not scheduled | No dates set. |
| Upcoming | The start date is in the future. |
| Active | Today is on or after the start date and on or before the end date, or only one of the two is set and today is inside it. |
| Finished | The end date has passed. |
The end date must be on or after the start date. Changing the dates does not touch the events on the project's calendar; those are managed on the calendar itself.
Renaming a project
Change the title in Project settings. The project's web address is built from its title, so renaming changes the address too. Old links to the project stop working, but every link inside Waypoint, in notifications and the activity feed, is updated for you.
Adding an avatar
Click the avatar in the project header to upload an image. Square images work best. The avatar appears on the dashboard card and in the header; until you add one, Waypoint shows the initials of the title.
Deleting a project
Open Project settings and choose the red Delete project button, then type the project's title to confirm. Only team owners and admins can delete a project.
Deleting a project frees its slot on your plan, so a Free team can start a new project as soon as the old one is gone.
Managing tools
Choose Manage tools (the wrench) to add a tab, rename it, drag it into a new position or remove it. Removing a tool deletes everything in it, and asks you to confirm first. Names are saved as you type. See A tour of a project.
