Notifications
What Waypoint tells you about, where to find it and how to clear it.
Waypoint tells you when something needs you or involves you. Notifications live in the app; only team invitations and password resets arrive by email.
Where to find them
A red badge on your avatar in the header means you have unread notifications. Open your user menu and choose Notifications to see the list, newest first. Each one says what happened and links to the message, card, event, document or chat it is about.
Choose Mark as read on one, or Mark all as read at the top to clear the badge.
What you are told about
| Tool | You are notified when |
|---|---|
| Message boards | A message is posted on a project you can see, someone replies to a message you wrote or replied to, or you are mentioned in a message or reply. |
| Task boards | You are assigned to a card, or mentioned in one. |
| Chat | You are mentioned. Chat does not notify you otherwise. |
| Calendar | You are added to an event as a participant, an event you are on is rescheduled or cancelled, or you are mentioned in one. |
| Drive | Someone comments on a document, file or link you added or commented on, or you are mentioned in a document or comment. |
| Teams | Someone accepts an invitation you sent. |
You are never notified about your own actions, and only ever about projects you can see.
Notifications and teams
The notifications page shows notifications for every team you belong to, with the team switcher deciding which team's projects you are looking at. If a notification links to a project on another team, following it switches you into that team.
Waypoint sends email for team invitations, password resets and email verification. Activity inside projects is not emailed, so keep the app open or check the bell when you come back. If an invitation or reset email has not arrived, see I didn't get a notification or email.
